Pirates to host Postseason Block Party outside PNC Park

Team encourages fans to come to PNC Park to enjoy Wednesday's Game Five on Federal Street

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today the team will once again host a special Postseason Block Party on Federal Street outside PNC Park for Game Five of the National League Division Series on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 (weather permitting). The Pirates encourage fans to cheer on the team outside of PNC Park as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals at 8:07 p.m. ET in St. Louis, Mo.

First pitch for Game Five of the NLDS was originally scheduled for 5:07 p.m. ET and was moved to 8:07 p.m. ET following the Los Angeles Dodgers series clinching win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night. With the Dodgers/Braves series coming to an end, the Pirates/Cardinals series-deciding game was selected as the prime time game for Wednesday. The Division Series winner will advance to the National League Championship Series scheduled to begin on Friday, October 11 vs. the Dodgers.

The team's plans again include a 15' x 20' projection screen to be located on Federal Street outside PNC Park where fans can enjoy the game with the bridge and city of Pittsburgh as the backdrop. The PNC Park Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club will be open with a limited menu from 7 p.m. to the end of the game. The PNC Park Clubhouse Store and all local establishments around PNC Park will also be open for business. Several local establishments will have food and beverage vendors set up along Federal Street. Also, fans are encouraged to bring chairs for a comfortable view as seating will not be provided. Outside food and drink will be permitted, but for safety reasons, grills and glass bottles will not be permitted. The PNC Park Riverwalk will be open to provide guests with access to restroom facilities.

Federal Street and the Clemente Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at Noon the day of the event. Also, there will be limited free parking available in the Red Lot Six, located across from the PNC Park Press Entrance on General Robinson Street, courtesy of Alco Parking.
