Pitcher Jandel Gustave claimed off outright waivers by San Diego

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Kansas City Royals announced today that right-handed pitcher Jandel Gustave has been claimed off outright waivers by the San Diego Padres. 

Gustave, 22, was acquired by the Royals during the Rule 5 Draft on December 11 of last year, in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. He had made six relief appearances for KC during Spring Training, posting a 1-0 record with two saves, allowing three earned runs in 8.1 innings of work (3.24 ERA).

Following the move, the Royals have 36 active players in Major League Spring Training, which includes 27 players from the 40-man roster and nine non-roster invitees. The Royals also have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
