Yoon at O's camp, passes physical
Club has not announced that the three-year deal with righty is official
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Pitcher Suk-min Yoon has passed the physical he needed to seal his three-year agreement with the Orioles, although the team had not announced the deal as of Sunday.
Baltimore likely will hold a news conference on Tuesday, as Monday will be an early day at camp due to an afternoon golf tournament.
Yoon, who took the physical on Friday, was at the Orioles' complex Saturday afternoon. He was joined by agent Tad Hun Yo, who is part of the Boras Corporation and was in the lobby of the club's main building at the Ed Smith Stadium Complex.
Yoon did not want to speak publicly about the O's until his deal is official -- especially given his Tweet in an Orioles hat that went viral.
The hope is that Yoon can avoid having to go back to South Korea for a work visa and just work out in Orioles camp, but there's no decision on that yet.
Yoon, who pitched in relief due to an injury last season, could be a starter or reliever for the O's. The right-hander went 3-6 with a 4.00 ERA and seven saves last season for the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization. His best pro season in South Korea was in 2011, when he went 17-5 with a 2.45 ERA.
