Players Reap Benefits of #FanCaveBump

Probably the coolest thing about the MLB Fan Cave, other than my new Ric Flair sunglasses, is when big league ballplayers stop by to visit. Along with some amazing concerts and visits from celebrities of all forms of entertainment, quite a few players have already taken a stroll through the Cave in the 2012. That being said, we the Dwellers have noticed an interesting phenomenon that takes place after the players have left the Cave. We like to call it the #FanCaveBump. No, the #FanCaveBump isn’t something that requires a visit to the doctor’s office. It seems as though when players visit the Cave, many of them have a sudden burst of on-field success. For example:

Gio Gonzalez: After visiting the Fan Cave on April 10, the Nationals’ lefty threw seven innings of two-hit shutout baseball, picked up the win AND got his first Major League hit at the plate. #FanCaveBump officially born.

Edwin Jackson: The Nationals were the first team to visit the MLB Fan Cave this season and their rotation seems to have reaped the benefits of the #FanCaveBump. After visiting with his teammate Gio on April 10, EJ went out in his next start on April 14 and threw a complete game against the Reds to pick up his first win of the year and managed to collect a hit at the plate as well. The Nationals should probably start sending their rotation to the Cave on a weekly basis.

Jonathan Lucroy: Many of the hitters that have visited the Cave this year have felt the positive effects of the #FanCaveBump, but none as much as Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy was already enjoying a great season at the plate coming into his appearance at the Cave on May 14. However, after a visit that included a lot of laughs as well as him agreeing to do “The Shark” signal after a base hit, Lucroy’s offensive stats skyrocketed. In the seven games since his Cave visit, Lucroy has amassed 11 RBIs, had a multi-home run game, including his first career grand slam, raised his batting average nearly 20 points to an astounding .342, all the while continuing to #SharkIt on the field. The #FanCaveBump is real, folks.

Jeff Francoeur: After being serenaded with "The Frenchy Song," Francoeur went out and hit a home run against the Yankees.
