The Other Posey Kid

My mother and sister are two of the strongest women I know. They are smart, beautiful and tough. I would never get away with a jab like, “Man, you hit like a girl.” The two ladies in my family would take issue with that and I’m not looking for any trouble from them, believe me. I once thought -- like most guys -- that men are just stronger than women…then I factored in the whole giving birth ability, it changed my mind and closed the book on that argument for good.

I’m guessing that the feelings I have toward my mom and sister are similar to those Buster Posey of The San Francisco Giants has toward his. He has seen a great deal of success in the early part of his Major League career. He is already a World Series Champion and was also the NL Rookie of the Year. So it is crazy to think that his sister Samantha is the most gifted, natural athlete in the Posey family. Posey's kid sister ranks among the leaders in NCAA softball with a .435 batting average and recently had a 4-homerun game playing for Valdosta State http://nyti.ms/k9b2io.

It’s no wonder that Buster pushes himself so hard to achieve, growing up I'm sure his little sister was grabbing up a lot of real estate on the refrigerator door with her newspaper clippings.

In addition to my sister, I also have two younger brothers so I can relate to healthy sibling rivalry. But my brothers and I know who’s the best deep down. I once went to watch my sister play soccer. I was truly impressed by her ability. The thing that I remember most however, was when and one of the opposing players tried a slide tackle on Jacque'. My sister got up and knocked her opponent down in a way that would have made Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher proud. I sat in stunned silence and then cracked a smile as she looked into the stands and gave me a look as if to say, "Not in my house!"

Guys, the ladies can go toe-to-toe with us and that's the bottom line. We should just accept it and let’s not get on their bad side ok? Great.

If you have a sister who is tougher than you, send me a tweet about her @mikeyoh21.
