Washington Nationals recall Jordan Weems

July 4th, 2022

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Jordan Weems and placed right-handed pitcher Jackson Tetreault on the 15-day Injured List (retroactive to July 3) with a stress fracture of the right scapula on Monday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Weems, 29, returns to the Nationals after going 2-2 with 11 saves and a 3.60 ERA in 25 games for Triple-A Rochester. He struck out 39 batters, walked eight and allowed four home runs. His 11 saves led Washington’s Minor League system and ranked fourth in the International League.

This will be Weems’ second Major League stint this season. He had his contract selected on May 31 and appeared in six games out of Washington’s bullpen. He posted a 9.95 ERA with six strikeouts and six walks before being optioned to Rochester on June 14.

Tetreault, 26, went 2-2 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts during his first Major League season in 2022.
