BRADENTON, Fla. -- In his final tuneup before Opening Day, Red Sox left-hander David Price held the Pirates to one run over four innings, while Andrew McCutchen's power stroke was on display for the Pirates as Boston tied Pittsburgh, 4-4, on Wednesday at McKechnie Field.
Price gave up four hits, walked one and struck out three in his last start before Boston's opener against the Indians on Monday. The new Sox ace finished the spring with a 2.81 ERA over four appearances.
"Really good," Price said after the outing. "Just continued to feel better as spring went along. That's what I'm accustomed to, and I felt really good today."
Andrew McCutchen hit his sixth homer of the spring, crushing a fastball over the boardwalk in left field to tie the game at 4 in the seventh.
Pirates left-hander Jonathon Niese gave up two runs in a long first inning then retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced. Niese scattered five hits and struck out five over four innings in his final Spring Training start.

The Red Sox got to Niese quickly. Mookie Betts hit a leadoff double to left, took third on a single by Josh Rutledge and scored on Chris Young's groundout to first base. Catcher Ryan Hanigan drove in Rutledge with a two-out single to right field.
Pittsburgh responded in the bottom of the first, as Josh Harrison singled and scored on Jason Rogers' single up the middle. The Sox tacked on another run in the fifth when Young tripled to left-center off Pirates left-hander Cory Luebke.

Rogers also walked three times.
Red Sox setup man Koji Uehara, making only his third Spring Training appearance and his first since March 16 after being sidelined by general soreness, pitched a scoreless fifth inning with one strikeout.
"I think there's a little bit more in there, but I think I pitched well enough," said Uehara. "I think when I get emotionally engaged, I think I'll be ready. That's the only thing missing."
Luebke, competing for a spot in the bullpen, allowed an unearned run and struck out a batter in two innings of work.
Up next for Pirates: Left-hander Kyle Lobstein will start the Pirates' Grapefruit League finale as they hit the road to face the Rays at Charlotte Sports Park at 1:05 p.m. ET on Thursday. Competing for a spot in the bullpen, Lobstein will try to end an impressive Spring Training on a high note. The lefty has allowed two runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking three in 11 innings.

Up next for Red Sox: Right-hander Clay Buchholz makes his final start of Spring Training when the Red Sox take the short bus ride to Hammond Stadium to play the Twins on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Following the game, the Red Sox will travel to Montreal to play the Blue Jays for exhibition games on Friday and Saturday.
