Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher David Price thanks fans for raising more than $22,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Fans of Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price will be honored at a special VIP party for raising more than $22,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.  During the month-long campaign, fans collected donations for the David Price Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser. Every dollar raised will stay in the community and help the agency provide caring adult mentors to children facing adversity. Price, who was drafted by the Rays out of Vanderbilt University in 2007, recruited fans to participate and encouraged their hard work, using his Twitter feed @DavidPrice14.

“It was great to see how the community really stepped up. Some not only donated money, but they also volunteer as mentors. All of it makes a difference to these kids who really need someone to look up to,” said Price. Money raised will allow the agency to pair more children with carefully screened volunteers, and provide professional on-going support for each volunteer mentor (Big) and child (Little). Currently, more than 1,000 children in the Tampa Bay area are waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Fans who raised $1,000 or more will be invited to David Price’s VIP Party, Wednesday, April 4, 6-8pm at Pin Chasers Midtown, 4847 N. Armenia in Tampa. Price will be on-hand to take pictures, sign autographs and talk about the upcoming season. Raymond and the Rays Street Team will also be there and VIP guests will enjoy free bowling, t-shirts and other prizes.
