Prince's season-ending surgery set for Friday

July 27th, 2016

ARLINGTON -- Rangers designated hitter will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a herniated disk in his neck on Friday, the team announced on Wednesday. The surgery will be performed by Dallas-based Dr. Drew Dossett.
This will be the second season-ending surgery that Fielder will have performed to repair a herniated disk in his neck in the last three seasons. Dossett also performed his surgery in May 2014. Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said on Monday that it was very likely Fielder was going to go through with the surgery after it was recommended by both Dr. Dossett and Dr. Richard Watkins in Los Angeles.
Fielder was batting .212 with eight home runs and 44 RBIs before being placed on the 15-day disabled list with the neck injury on July 20.
