Chisholm Jr., Trammell smash roundtrippers

April 11th, 2021

Two of the game's most well-rounded young position players put their power tools on display Saturday, as Miami's Jazz Chisholm and Seattle's Taylor Trammell each homered, hitting a pair of baseballs a combined 773 feet.

Chisolm, MLB's No. 59 prospect, came through in the Marlins' 3-0 win over the host Mets. In his first at-bat of the day, the 23-year-old middle infielder was behind, 0-2, to Jacob deGrom, when he rocketed a 100.4-mph fastball into the upper deck in right field to put Miami on the board in the second inning. The dinger left Chisholm's bat at 107.4 mph and traveled 402 feet, per Statcast.

The knock was his first of the year, and his third in the Majors. He's 4-for-20 and has also tripled, doubled and stolen two bases this year.

Trammell, meanwhile, collected his first career homer. The No. 93 prospect kickstarted the Mariners in their 4-3 win over the Twins by taking Michael Pineda out of the yard on a 1-0 fastball to lead off the third inning. He also scored the game's final run, starting the top of the 10th on second base, moving to third on a bunt single by Braden Bishop and scooting home on Mitch Haniger sacrifice fly.

The toolsy outfielder had his first hit last Saturday and added another Wednesday. His -for- start figures to turn around; Trammell had a .270/.363/.406 slash line with 33 homers over four Minor League seasons, beginning when he was 18 years old in 2016.

Chisholm and Trammell each also worked a walk.
