With the MLB Draft just a week away, this week's Prospect Team of the Week gives a nod to the top performer's Draft spot. Where appropriate (two of the players are international signees), when and where a player was taken is mentioned.
Prospect Team of the Week
This week's squad was taken at various stages of the Draft, from the second through the fifth round. There's a repeat performer at second base and a first baseman who gives his organization its first PTOW rep.
Here is the latest edition of Prospect Team of the Week, for the week of May 29-June 4.
C: Sean Murphy, Stockton Ports (Class A Advanced)
A's No. 14 prospect
6 G, .400/.407/.880, 7 R, 3 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO
The A's third-round pick out of Wright State in last year's Draft, Murphy is swinging the bat the way the organization hoped he might when it took him. He finished the week going 5-for-8 with three homers on Saturday and Sunday. He missed close to a month and has been red hot since returning on May 17, raising his average up over .300 for the season.
1B: Joe McCarthy, Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A)
Rays No. 19 prospect
6 G, .524/.600/.667, 8 R, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 4 BB, 1 SO
The University of Virginia product, taken in the fifth round of the 2015 Draft, has an eight-game hitting streak going. Four of them this past week were of the multi-hit variety and his .305 average for the season now puts him seventh in the Southern League, while he's also seventh in on-base percentage (.385).

2B: Scott Kingery, Reading (Double-A)
Phillies No. 11 prospect
8 G, .355/.444/.645, 9 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 3 SO, 1 SB
This is Kingery's second appearance on the PTOW in three weeks as he continues to show surprising power. With two more homers this week, the 2015 second-rounder leads the Minors with 17 homers. But it's far from all-or-nothing pop as he is hitting for average (.311), getting on base (.391) and stealing them (13).

3B: J.D. Davis, Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A)
Astros No. 13 prospect
6 G, .429/.500/.952, 5 R, 2 2B, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 3 BB, 5 SO
Yes, there's swing and miss to his game, but Davis has a nine-game hitting streak and continues to show his power plays in games, even with the move up to Double-A. The 2014 third-round pick finished off his week with homers on Saturday and Sunday, and his total of 14 leads the Texas League and puts him in a tie with Derek Fisher for tops in the system.

SS: Yairo Munoz, Midland RockHounds (Double-A)
A's No. 10 prospect
6 G, .429/.448/.821, 8 R, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO, 2 SB
A hamstring injury kept Munoz off the field this season until May 3, but he's making up for lost time now. This past week, the infielder had five multi-hit games (part of an active seven-game hitting streak) that included homers on May 31 and June 1. If he had enough at-bats to qualify, he'd be in the top 10 in slugging (.550) and just outside of it in batting average (.308) in the Texas League.

OF: Conner Capel, Lake County Captains (Class A)
Indians No. 30 prospect
7 G, .480/.581/1.000, 8 R, 2 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 6 BB, 5 SO, 1 SB
Capel's start to his first full season was sluggish, to say the least. But the 2016 fifth-rounder certainly turned it around this past week. He had multiple hits in five of his seven games, including a three-hit, 5 RBI day on June 1. He's raised his batting average 40 points in the past week and his nine homers place him tied for third in the organization.

OF: Michael Gettys, Lake Elsinore Storm (Class A Advanced)
Padres No. 11 prospect
6 G, .478/.556/1.130, 6 R, 3 2B, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 4 BB, 7 SO, 1 SB
Gettys, the Padres' 2014 second-round pick, still strikes out a lot, but he now has eight homers and 13 steals on the year after a week that saw him close things out with four straight multi-hit games. He had three hits each in the three games Friday-Sunday, including a three-homer outburst on Friday.

OF: Jordan Luplow, Altoona Curve (Double-A)
Pirates No. 30 prospect
7 G, .423/.500/1.077, 8 R, 2 2B, 5 HR, 6 RBI, 4 BB, 7 SO, 1 SB
Luplow began his week with a two-homer game, then homered the next day. The 2014 third-rounder finished it with a home run on Saturday and another one on Sunday to extend his hitting streak to seven. He's second in the Pirates system in SLG (.588) and is tied for second with 13 homers.

LHP: Keegan Akin, Frederick Keys (Class A Advanced)
Orioles No. 5 prospect
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 GS, 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 SO, 0.33 WHIP
Akin had a strong summer debut after the Orioles took him in the second round a year ago, but he struggled out of the gate when he was sent to the Carolina League. The organization gave him a break to let him catch his breath and he returned with a gem, tossing six innings of shutout ball while allowing just two hits and no walks while whiffing seven.

RHP: Chance Adams, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A)
Yankees No. 7 prospect/MLB No. 97
1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 GS, 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 12 SO, 0.50 WHIP
Adams continues to dominate, now up in Triple-A. The 22-year-old has yet to give up more than two earned runs in a start this year. His latest gem was perhaps the finest of his career, a six-inning, one-hit, no runs, 12-strikeout masterpiece. The 2015 fifth-rounder now tops the Yankees system (among starters) in ERA, WHIP and batting average against and he's second in strikeouts.

RP: Jairo Labourt, Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)
Tigers No. 19 prospect
0-0, 1 SV, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO, 0.00 WHIP
A move to the bullpen in 2016 seemed to point Labourt in the right direction, and he's been lights out this season in his first full year in the role, earning a promotion up to Double-A after eight Florida State League outings. He's kept it up in Double-A, including last week, where he tossed four hitless innings over two games. The most encouraging sign? Just five walks issued in 30 2/3 innings.
