LOS ANGELES -- Yasiel Puig out-slugged William Myers, two homers to one, and the Dodgers rolled to a 10-2 victory over the Padres in Thursday's opening-series finale at Dodger Stadium.
Puig launched a pair of two-run shots off Padres newcomer Jered Weaver -- one in the second and one in the fourth -- giving him three in two days and moving him atop the early home run leaderboard. His fourth-inning blast gave the Dodgers a 4-0 lead and left the bat at 110.8 mph, Puig's hardest-hit home run in the Statcast™ era.

"When he's swinging at strikes and taking balls, yeah, when Yasiel is focused like that, he is very dangerous," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Myers cut the Padres' deficit in half with a two-run blast of his own in the sixth inning, his first of the season. That was the only offense the Padres mustered against righty Brandon McCarthy, who debuted with six innings of two-run ball, while allowing four hits and striking out four.

The Dodgers broke the game open late, aided by a barrage of walks by San Diego relievers. In total, six pitchers combined for 11 free passes -- the most for the Padres and the most drawn by the Dodgers in a nine-inning game since an Aug. 30, 2011, contest between the two sides.
"Weave left a couple pitches up to Puig, and he made him pay for it," said Padres manager Andy Green. "I thought Weave battled well today, pitched out of a trouble a number of times. We got to a portion of our bullpen that had trouble commanding the ball. When you walk six or seven guys in a two-inning stretch, it's just not going to go well for you."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Yasiel goes yard: Puig's second homer may have broken a personal record. But his first dinger of the afternoon was crushed as well. He launched the first pitch he saw from Weaver a projected 415 feet, and it one-hopped the back of the Dodgers' bullpen. The exit velocity of Puig's first homer was 107 mph, marking only the sixth time in Puig's career he's hit two balls that hard in the same game. More >
Home robbery: The Dodgers extended their lead in the sixth inning on Enrique Hernandez's RBI double. He would later come around to score on a crafty double steal. With two outs, Corey Seager broke for second, prompting a throw from catcher Hector Sanchez. Hernandez immediately broke for home and slid in safely ahead of Yangervis Solarte's return throw. The Padres challenged the call, which stood after review, and Los Angeles took a 6-2 lead. It marked the first steal of home by the Dodgers since Carl Crawford did so in April 2014 against Milwaukee.

SANCHEZ SHAKEN UP
Padres catcher Hector Sanchez exited the game in the seventh inning after being struck by a foul ball on his mask. The veteran backstop has a history with concussions and hasn't had the best luck with foul balls. (He missed time in camp after hitting one off his foot during batting practice.)
"He's dizzy right now," Green said. "It's concussion-like symptoms at this point in time. We're going to take a look at him, take a little time to evaluate." The Padres say they will likely have a better idea of the long-term extent of the injury on Friday. Sanchez was 0-for-3 on the afternoon, before being replaced by Luis Torrens.
JOC TOSSED
Dodgers center fielder Joc Pederson was ejected after striking out swinging to end the seventh inning. He reacted angrily, tossing his bat and his helmet.
"He's emotional and we love that about him," Roberts said. "He cares. But that's a game you just can't get thrown out of."
WHAT'S NEXT
Padres:Luis Perdomo faces the Giants on Friday in the home opener at Petco Park. First pitch is slated for 3:40 p.m. PT. The 23-year-old right-hander was arguably the team's best starter during the second half last season, and he finished with a 59 percent groundball rate, tops in the National League.
Dodgers:Hyun-Jin Ryu begins his comeback in the Rockies' home opener on Friday at Coors Field. The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. The left-hander had shoulder surgery in May of 2015 and then made only one start last season on July 7 before going down with elbow tendinitis.
