Race for 2016 Postseason Reaches Fever Pitch in Astros Final Homestand

With 11 games left in the 2016 regular season, the Astros are looking to secure their second consecutive postseason berth in what will be a critical seven-game homestand. Houston will return home Thursday after going 4-1 thus far on the roadtrip, which has pushed them within 2.0 games of an AL Wild Card spot. The upcoming homestand will have a major impact on Houston's playoff hopes as they take on the LA Angels of Anaheim (Sept. 22-25) and Seattle Mariners (Sept. 26-28). Houston currently owns an 11-1 record against the Angels, who they will face again in Anaheim to end the season, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Houston is 10-6 vs. the Mariners thus far this season, with a 5-2 mark against Seattle at home.

Thursday, September 22 - 7:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels of Anaheim
Prior to Thursday's 7:10 p.m. contest, the Astros will recognize RHP Lance McCullers for being named the Astros 2016 nominee for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. The Roberto Clemente Award is the annual recognition of a player from each MLB club who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. The Astros will also recognize Astros legend and Community Outreach Executive Jose Cruz during the pregame ceremony as part of MLB's SEAT 21 initiative, which seeks to honor individuals who embody the humanitarian spirit of Roberto Clemente in order to further extend the message of service and commitment.
Friday, September 23 - 7:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels of Anaheim
The final Big and Bright Friday Night postgame fireworks display of the season takes place this Friday, Sept. 23 following the conclusion of the 7:10 p.m. contest vs. the Angels. The fireworks show will feature the music of Selena in honor of the Astros Hispanic Heritage celebration, which kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 24. The fireworks will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of Friday's game.
The Astros and Houston Area Lexus Dealers are teaming up to bring a Virtual Reality Lounge to Minute Maid Park. Fans can take a 360-degree ride sitting shotgun with a race car driver or take part in the Lexus cycling experience, all without leaving the ballpark. This virtual reality experience will be available for a limited time, beginning on Friday, Sept. 23 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the atrium on the main concourse at Minute Maid Park.
Saturday, September 24 - 6:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels of Anaheim
The Astros are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the Hispanic Heritage Street Fest this Saturday, Sept. 24, presented by Fiesta with special thanks to the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The Hispanic Heritage Street Fest will take place from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Crawford Street and will include live Latin music, traditional Spanish dancers, cold beer and margaritas, local food trucks and games and activities for all ages. All fans must have a valid game ticket to Saturday's 6:10 p.m. contest vs. the Angels to enter. Astros players will also wear their Los Astros jerseys on the field for Saturday's game.
Sunday, September 25 - 1:10 p.m. vs. LA Angels of Anaheim
The Astros are inviting fans to bid a final farewell to Tal's Hill and be a part of Astros history! Following the games on Sunday, Sept. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 28, fans will have the opportunity to have their own commemorative photo taken with Tal's Hill by purchasing a photo voucher while supplies last. All proceeds will benefit the Astros Foundation. This will serve as the last opportunity for Astros fans to visit Tal's Hill before the Center Field Renovation project begins following the completion of the 2016 season. On Monday, Sept. 26, long-time sports director at KRIV-TV Mark Berman will be inducted into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor during a pregame ceremony, where he will be presented a duplicate of the plaque that will be added to the Wall of Honor in the Milo Hamilton Press Box at Minute Maid Park. Berman is currently celebrating his 30th year at KRIV-TV in Houston, having joined the Houston FOX affiliate in 1986. Each season, a current or former Houston media member is selected by his or her peers for induction into the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor for significant and lasting contributions to the landscape of Houston baseball through their work in journalism or broadcasting. This year, Berman was recognized by his peers for his long, successful career in the industry.
Tuesday, September 27 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Seattle Mariners
The Houston Astros will host members of the Wounded Warrior Project during its annual "Astros Salute to Heroes" at Minute Maid Park. The Astros host members from the Wounded Warrior Project twice a month during the regular season.

The Astros will host one final Astros After Party, presented by Budweiser, to celebrate the last regular season game of 2016. This event is free to fans with a ticket to the game and will last for one hour after the conclusion of the game.
