Iglesias activated, Rodriguez optioned to Triple-A

MIAMI -- Prior to Saturday afternoon's contest, the Reds optioned outfielder Yorman Rodriguez to Triple-A Louisville, as right-hander Raisel Iglesias was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list to start in place of Anthony DeSclafani (gluteal tightness).

Manager Bryan Price said that the move allows the 22-year-old Rodriguez -- the Reds' ninth-ranked prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com -- to participate in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday at Great American Ball Park at 3 p.m. ET.

"We want that to be a part of [Rodriguez's] experience in 2015," Price said.

Rodriguez was recalled on Monday for the first time this season, but he did not appear in a game. In 80 games with Louisville, he's hitting .272 with nine home runs and 13 doubles. He recently earned the Bats' Player of the Month honor for June after he posted a .321 average with 19 RBIs.

The Venezuela native made his Major League debut with the Reds in September 2014 when he was called up from Double-A Pensacola. In 11 games, he hit .222 (6-for-27) with two RBIs.

Rodriguez will play for the World Team in the Futures Game. In all, Cincinnati will be represented by three players, as outfielder Kyle Waldrop, currently with Louisville, and left-handed pitcher Amir Garrett, with Class A Advanced Daytona, will play for the U.S. Team.
