The Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Quakes recorded the first no-hitter of the 2017 Minor League season on Friday night as Mitchell White and Alex Hermeling combined to fire seven dominant innings in game two of a doubleheader against Stockton. It was the first no-hitter in the Quakes' 25-year franchise history.
White, the Dodgers' No. 11 prospect, worked the first four innings, allowing three batters to reach base via walks while striking out five. Hermeling took over from there, tossing three perfect innings to seal the no-hitter and a 4-0 victory over the Ports.
First baseman Ibandel Isabel drove in all four of Rancho's runs in the contest, hitting a pair of two-run home runs in his first two at-bats against Stockton starter Casey Meisner (A's No. 29 prospect). Second baseman Omar Estevez (Dodgers' No. 12) and center fielder DJ Peters (No. 20) scored the Quakes' other two runs, with latter also finishing 1-for-3 at the plate.

The Dodgers drafted White in the fourth round last June after he had a breakout campaign -- as a redshirt sophomore -- in his first year as a full-time starter in Santa Clara's rotation. The right-hander's velocity ticked up throughout the spring and he sat 92-96 mph during his pro debut, when he allowed just seven hits in 22 scoreless innings, with 30 strikeouts and six walks, while pitching at three levels.
Making the feat even more notable is that Stockton nearly threw a perfect game against the Quakes in the first game of Friday's double dip. It was Estevez who played the spoiler in that one, coming up with a one-out single to left field in the top of the seventh inning.
