Rangers acquire catcher Nevin Ashley from Mets for cash considerations

The Texas Rangers tonight announced that the club has acquired minor league catcher Nevin Ashley from the New York Mets in exchange for cash considerations. He is not on the 40-man roster and has been assigned Triple-A Round Rock.

Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Rangers tonight announced that the club has acquired minor league catcher Nevin Ashley from the New York Mets in exchange for cash considerations. He is not on the 40-man roster and has been assigned Triple-A Round Rock.
Ashley, 32, has spent the 2016 season with Triple-A Las Vegas, batting .240 (40-167) with 5 home runs, 10 doubles, and 28 RBI in 63 games. He saw his only major league action with Milwaukee in 2015, going 2-for-20 with a double and RBI in 12 games for the Brewers. Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 6th round of the 2006 June draft, the Indiana native spent the first seven years of his professional career in the Rays organization from 2006-12 before playing in the Cincinnati (2013), Pittsburgh (2014), Milwaukee (2015), and New York-NL (2016) systems.
