Rangers activate LHP Matt Harrison from 15-day disable list; option INF Luis Sardinas to Double-A Frisco
Harrison to make first Texas start in over a year in today's series finale in Seattle
Seattle, Wash. - The Texas Rangers announced this morning that the club has activated left-handed pitcher Matt Harrison from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for Harrison on the active roster, the team has optioned infielder Luis Sardinas to Double-A Frisco.
Harrison is scheduled to start today's series finale in Seattle, which would be his first game for the Rangers since April 6, 2013 vs. Los Angeles-AL. He will be seeking his first win since September 27, 2012 vs. Oakland. He began the season on the 15-day disabled list for back surgery rehab. He went 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA (3 ER/16.0 IP) in 3 starts on a rehabilitation assignment with Frisco (AA), and also started another game that was eventually rained out. The club's 2013 Opening Day starter has gone 10-2 with a 2.06 ERA (24 ER/104.2 IP) over 18 games/14 starts in his career against Seattle, including 5-1 with a 0.99 ERA (5 ER/45.2 IP) in 8 games/6 starts at Safeco Field.
Sardinas was recalled from Frisco (AA) on April 19 and saw action as a reserve in 3 games for the Rangers, going 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored in his first major league action.
The Rangers currently have a full 40-man roster.
