The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has activated outfielder Carlos Gomez from the 10-day disabled list and optioned infielder Phil Gosselin to Triple-A Round Rock.
Gomez was placed on 10-day disabled list last Saturday, retroactive to August 16, following an excision of a cyst behind his right shoulder. Gomez has been working out with the Rangers on the current road trip, and will be seeking his first game with Texas since August 13 versus Houston. He has batted .251 with 15 home runs and 42 RBI in 86 games for the Rangers in 2017, making a team-high 82 starts in center field.
Gosselin has appeared in 3 games as a reserve spanning two stints with the Rangers (August 19-20, August 22-25) since he was received from the Pittsburgh Pirates in an August 12 waiver claim. He played 4 games with Round Rock before he was initially recalled on August 19.
The Rangers' major league roster remains at the 40-man limit, along with four players on the 60-day disabled list.
