Rangers activate RHP Tanner Scheppers from 15-day disabled list, option LHP Aaron Poreda to Triple-A Round Rock

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers from an injury rehabilitation assignment with Double-A Frisco and activated him off the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the active roster for Scheppers, the club has optioned left-handed pitcher Aaron Poreda to Triple-A Round Rock. 

Additionally, outfielder Jim Adduci has been transferred from Frisco to Round Rock on an injury rehabilitation assignment.

Scheppers was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 18 with right elbow inflammation. The club's Opening Day starter, he went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA (20 ER/18.1 IP) in 4 games/starts for Texas before the stint on the disabled list. Scheppers is returning to the Rangers as a reliever. He allowed 6 runs (5 earned) over 5 games and 5.2 innings on injury rehab assignments with Frisco (AA) and Round Rock (AAA), and his last appearance was with the RoughRiders on Tuesday vs. San Antonio (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 SO, 6 pitches/5 strikes). Over 115 career relief outings in the majors, Scheppers has gone 7-3 with a 2.64 ERA (32 ER/109.0 IP).

Poreda was recalled from Round Rock yesterday for his second stint with Texas and allowed hits to both batters faced last night against Baltimore. He was also with the club April 18-May 27, and is 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA (5 ER/13.2 IP) in 16 relief appearances for the Rangers this season.

Adduci will continue his rehab assignment with Round Rock tonight at New Orleans. He has played the past two nights with Frisco, going a combined 2-for-8 in those contests. Adduci was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 19 with a fractured left little finger, an injury suffered during the previous night's game against the Chicago White Sox while sliding head-first into second base on a tag-up play.

The Rangers currently have a full 40-man roster.
