Rangers agree to terms with LHP Jake Diekman on 2017 contract

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers this evening announced that the club has agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Jake Diekman on a one-year contract for the 2017 season. No further terms were disclosed.
The club reached agreements earlier today with catcher Robinson Chirinos, infielder Jurickson Profar, and right-handed pitchers Sam Dyson, A.J. Griffin, Jeremy Jeffress, and Tanner Scheppers. All seven Rangers who were eligible for salary arbitration are now under contract for 2017.
Diekman was 4-2 with a 3.40 ERA and 4 saves in 66 appearances with Texas in 2016, his first full season with the club. He tied for fourth in the A.L. with 26 holds and had the ninth lowest opponents' batting average among league relievers at .189.
