Rangers Baseball Foundation to present check to support City of Dallas
Arlington, Texas –The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation will present their financial contribution to the City of Dallas and Dallas ISD Reviving Baseball In Inner Cities, also known as the RBI program, TOMORROW, Thursday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at Dallas City Hall.
Former Texas Ranger, Jose Guzman will present the check along with Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation Executive Director, Karin Morris. Accepting the check will be Director of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, Paul Dyer, and President of the Park and Recreation Board, Joan Walne. The check presentation will take place during the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Board meeting.
The financial contribution comes from Rangers players Adrian Beltre and Yu Darvish, Rangers manager Ron Washington and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. Nearly 2,000 children across Dallas participate in the city’s RBI program and will benefit from the donation given to help fund the recreational program. This season, the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Rangers players will also donate equipment and tickets, and participate in exclusive player and coach clinics to help the RBI program.
In addition, the kick-off for this year’s Dallas RBI program will take place on Saturday, April, 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Oaks Park in Dallas. Former Ranger player, Benji Gil will throw the game’s first pitch. Other games will be played throughout Dallas at various parks as part of the Dallas RBI Opening Day.
Foundation Volunteer Day featuring just keep livin and SLANT Foundation
Participants from the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation just keep livin program will receive special help from SLANT to complete a clean-up project from 8 a.m. – noon, on Saturday April 21 at Crawford Park in Dallas.
70 Student and other volunteers will decorate the field for the start of the Dallas Jr. RBI and RBI Opening Day that will take place at the park later that day. During the morning volunteers will pick weeds, plant flowers, and complete a variety of landscape projects to beautify the playing field for the season. The just keep livin program consists of students from Pinkston High School in Dallas; Sam Houston High School in Arlington; and Diamond-Hill Jarvis High School in Fort Worth.
