Texas intrigued by possibility of Sadzeck in 'pen

Rangers' No. 10 prospect has mostly been used as starter in Double-A

NEW YORK -- The Rangers are going to take a look at right-hander as a reliever.
Sadzeck, the Rangers' No. 10 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, has been used mainly as a starter at Double-A Frisco, where he is 4-5 with a 5.11 ERA. He also has 83 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings, and he is one of the hardest throwers in the system.
Texas is intrigued by the possibility of using that power out of the bullpen.
"Obviously, he has a great arm," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. "Sometimes that plays up in a bullpen role. We still feel he has the ability to start long term. Where we are in the calendar, it makes sense to see what our internal options are."
The Rangers have been looking at ways to improve their bullpen with Tony Barnette and on the disabled list. They recently added veterans and , and the bullpen could be an area addressed before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline.
