ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rangers have tentatively scheduled Derek Holland to come off the disabled list and pitch on Tuesday against the Reds. Yu Darvish will be pushed back to Wednesday in the two-game Interleague set in Cincinnati.
Holland has been sidelined since June 20 because of inflammation in his left shoulder and has made three starts on a Minor League rehabilitation assignment. The final hurdle was a 39-pitch bullpen session on Saturday at Tropicana Field.
"If we are able to come out of that with no ill effects, we're probably leaning toward him making that first start in Cincinnati," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "We still have time between now and then. He still has to hit all the measures, but he's the front-runner.
"When a guy is on the disabled list and working his way through the rehabilitation process, even up until game time you are going to have somebody in reserve."
Darvish last pitched on Wednesday night in Arlington and will be pitching on six days' rest. But the Rangers wanted to give him a couple of extra days of rest, anyway. This is his first year back from Tommy John surgery and he has already missed time because of discomfort in his right shoulder.
"The ability to get Yu a couple extra days is important," Banister said.
Beltre plays on
Rangers third baseman Adrián Beltré was back in the lineup on Saturday, still dealing with the passing of his grandfather on Thursday. Beltre, who had four hits -- including two home runs -- on Friday, has not asked for bereavement leave, but Banister said it's available if he wants it.
"That's up to Adrian," Banister said.
"I've got to say watching him play and perform [Friday] with a heavy heart solidifies what I know about him and the man he is," Banister said. "What he did was incredible, even without external distractions. Getting through that was difficult."

Rangers beat
• The rain in Texas is making it hard for the Rangers to get Tanner Scheppers on the mound for his latest appearance on rehab assignment. He was supposed to pitch Friday for Double-A Frisco but was scratched because of the weather. The Rangers were going to try Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, but the weather was bad there as well, so he may stay in Frisco.
• Beltre's two home runs on Friday led off the sixth and seventh. The last Rangers player to have home runs leading off consecutive innings was Alex Rodriguez on Aug. 28, 2003, against the Royals.
• The Rangers have had four players hit 20 or more home runs with them this season: Rougned Odor (22), Mitch Moreland (21), Beltre (21), and Ian Desmond (20). The three other teams with four 20-plus guys are the Orioles, Rockies and Blue Jays.
