NEW YORK -- Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo and Drew Robinson cracked home runs to send Michael Pineda to an early exit, and the Rangers held on to defeat the Yankees, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Taking the mound following the 71st annual Old-Timers' Day festivities, Pineda served up a season-high three homers as Texas grabbed two of three games in the weekend series, sending the reeling Yankees to their 10th loss in 12 games.
"This was a nice one to win," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "I feel good about the way we played here. Today the offense showed up well. More than anything, the story was the offense and how they continued to put up runs. Guys showed up in different situations."

Beltre slugged a two-run shot in the first inning, Choo launched a three-run blast in the second and Robinson collected his first big league hit with a solo shot into the right-field bullpen in the fourth off Pineda, who lasted four innings. The Rangers (38-37) have won 12 of their past 18 games.
"I didn't have really good command for my pitches today," Pineda said. "I threw a couple of good ones, but I wasn't consistent with my slider. I tried to compete on the mound and make a little adjustment, but this is a really good team here."
Aaron Judge collected his American League-leading 59th RBI and Gary Sanchez hit a three-run homer off Nick Martinez, who worked five innings to win his second straight start. Ronald Torreyes' seventh-inning homer off Joe Leclerc pulled New York closer and Didi Gregorius added an RBI single, but Sanchez was thrown out at third base to end the inning.
"We're still tied for first place in our division. We've had a pretty tough, poor two weeks," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Costly wild pitch: Martinez struck out Austin Romine for what should have been the third out of the fifth inning, which would have left the Rangers with a 7-0 lead. Catcher Jonathan Lucroy had to block the breaking ball in the dirt and couldn't keep it in front of him, and Romine reached first on the play. Judge followed with a run-scoring single, and Sanchez brought the Yankees back into the game with a three-run homer to Monument Park.

Beltre, Robinson lead home run parade: Beltre and Robinson have a combined 2,967 hits and 449 home runs between them. Beltre hit his 448th career home run in the first inning, and it was his 2,965th hit. Robinson went deep in the fourth inning for his first Major League hit and home run. Robinson, who was called up Saturday, had 10 home runs in 83 at-bats in June at Triple-A. Robinson also had a double in the seventh.

"The most important thing was to get the win today," Robinson said. "That's what you work for -- play for the team and help them get the win."

Choo's throw cuts off rally: Trailing, 7-5, the Yankees had two on and two out in the seventh when Gregorius lined a single to right off Rangers reliever Alex Claudio. Judge scored easily from second, but right fielder Choo cut down Sanchez going first to third for the last out of the inning, leaving the Rangers with a one-run lead.

"As soon as I catch the ball, I see Sanchez, and I'm not even trying to throw home," Choo said. "I look at Sanchez, and he's just touching second base. I thought, 'Good throw, maybe I have a chance.'" More >

Judge reached base in four of five plate appearances, singling twice and walking twice. Judge's 27-game on-base streak is the longest in the American League this season and is the longest by a Yankee since Derek Jeter reached base in 34 straight to end the 2012 season.

Rangers: Left-hander Cole Hamels is coming off the disabled list to start against the Indians at 6:05 p.m. CT Monday at Progressive Field. This will be Hamels' first start since April 26, and it comes in the first of a four-game series against the Tribe.
Yankees: New York opens a seven-game road trip on Monday as left-hander Jordan Montgomery takes the ball against the White Sox at 8:10 p.m. ET, beginning a four-game series. Montgomery won his third straight decision last time out, holding the Angels to two runs in 5 2/3 innings. He's 3-1 with a 2.55 ERA in his past six starts.
