Rangers Homestand Highlights: August 25-September 4

The Texas Rangers open a ten-game homestand on Thursday, August 25 that features three A.L. playoff contenders, the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, and Houston Astros.

The Texas Rangers open a ten-game homestand on Thursday, August 25 that features three A.L. playoff contenders, the Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, and Houston Astros.
The A.L. Central Division leading Indians visit Globe Life Park for a four-game set, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 25-27 at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, August 28 at 2:05 p.m.Thursday's series opener will be the first time for the Rangers and Indians to meet after the All-Star break with both teams in first place in their respective divisions since September 8, 1999 in Arlington. For that game, the first 10,000 fans entering the park will receive a Papa John's Texas Rangers Throwback Thursday Collector Pin commemorating Nolan Ryan's 5000th career strikeout on August 22, 1989.
The second annual Star WarsTM Weekend presented by Takis kicks off on Friday night with a Post-Game Fireworks Show set to the music of John Williams' iconic score from Star WarsTM. On Saturday, the first 15,000 fans will receive a Takis Elvis "Landrus" Calrissian Star WarsTM Bobblehead, and the weekend giveaways conclude on Sunday with the first 15,000 entering the park getting a Takis Star WarsTM poster. Star WarsTM characters will be greeting fans on the concourse on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In addition post-game on-field concerts take place on both Saturday and Sunday. Country musician and former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery will perform on Saturday night presented by Budweiser. The weekend concludes with a post-game performance by the Christian duo for KING & COUNTRY presented by Buckner International on Sunday. The concerts are free to anyone holding game tickets with on-field passes available for an additional $10.00.
The Rangers host the Mariners, currently in second place in the A.L. West Division, on Monday and Tuesday, August 29-30 at 7:05 p.m. and Wednesday, August 31 at 1:05 p.m. Rangers fans are encouraged to Red Out the Park for all three games of the Seattle series with a FOX Sports Southwest and 105.3 The FAN ticket offer for $10.00 tickets in the Lexus Club Terrace and Upper Level seating sections for August 29-31. The ticket offer is available at texasrangers.com using the online coupon code REDOUT. There is also a 20% off Rangers red merchandise at Globe Life Park retail stores through August 31. Wednesday is Texas Chili Company Dollar Hot Dog Day.
The homestand concludes with latest installment of the 2016 Silver Boot Series presented by the Texas Lottery. The Rangers and Astros play on Friday, September 2 at 7:05 p.m., Saturday, September 3 at 3:05 p.m., and Sunday, September 4 at 2:05 p.m. Texas holds an 11-2 advantage in the season's series and has thus clinched the coveted Silver Boot for the second consecutive year and the 12th time in 16 seasons.
Post-game fireworks set to Texas music take place on September 2 and the first 40,000 fans entering the park receive a white rally towel, compliments of Academy Sports + Outdoors. On September 3, the first 15,000 fans get a Nitto Tire Red Dot Bobblehead, the third of the three-Bobblehead series. Saturday is also Hispanic Heritage Day with pre-game performances planned.
Plano native Madison Kocian, a member of the 2016 U.S. Women's Gymnastics team at the just completed Summer Olympic Games, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Saturday. Madison won a Gold Medal in helping the U.S. squad capture the team competition and was a Silver medalist on the uneven bars. Following Saturday's game, fans can watch the pilot for the new FOX weekly show Pitch on the video boards. The second Blue Bell Ice Cream Sunday of the homestand takes place on September 4.
