SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Aided by a throwing error, the Surprise Saguaros rallied for three runs in the fifth inning Thursday to beat the Salt River Rafters, 4-2, at Surprise Stadium. With the victory, the Saguaros clinched a spot in the Arizona Fall League Championship game Saturday against the Mesa Solar Sox.
Rangers No. 20 prospect Jose Trevino led the Saguaros at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double and scoring twice. Trevino is excited to have the opportunity to play in the championship game.

"You come all this way, and you want to win it all," Trevino said. "We are in that area, so hopefully we can get it done. Everybody is going to be a bit tight [on Saturday], but whoever comes out having fun will do well.
"I've really enjoyed just being with the guys. We've got a great group of guys, a great group of coaches and everyone has just been fun to be with."
Braves No. 9 prospect Travis Demeritte provided Salt River with a lead just two pitches into the game when he drove a home run over the left field wall. He then padded the Salt River lead with an RBI double in the top of the second inning.

Even though Michael Kopech, the Red Sox's No. 5 prospect and No. 67 overall, allowed a run in each of the first two innings, he settled down and finished the day with a solid pitching line of five innings, five hits, one walk, two runs and six strikeouts.
After the Surprise bats were shut down early by Braves No. 16 prospectChris Ellis, the Saguaros finally made a mark on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With the bases loaded and one out, Twins prospect Tanner English bounced a ball to third base, but Dawel Lugo's (D-backs' No. 10) errant throw to the plate allowed two runs to score.
"We are all pretty stoked about playing in the championship," English said. "This is a tough league, and to be able to play in this game is a pretty cool opportunity. We are going to go out there, continue to do what we've been doing, have some fun and see if we can win this thing.
"Before Fall League, I had never been able to travel out west before. It's a cool experience to be out here and meet all the guys. By playing baseball you get to travel to a lot of cool places and meet a lot of cool people, so I'm soaking that up and enjoying my time here."

Nick Gordon, the Twins' No. 2 prospect and No. 47 overall, was the next batter and promptly took the lead for Surprise with an RBI single.
Surprise tacked on another run in the sixth when Trevino roped a double down the right-field line and scored on a single from Royals prospect Alfredo Escalera.
