Rangers lose challenge on double play

KANSAS CITY -- The Rangers lost a challenge in the top of the sixth at Kauffman Stadium.

Texas manager Ron Washington challenged first-base umpire Fieldin Culbreth's ruling of a completed double play by the Royals.

With the game deadlocked at 1, Adrian Beltre bounced into the twin-killing, and replay officials in New York ruled that Culbreth's call stands and Beltre remained out.

It was the third double play Texas had grounded into on the night.
