OAKLAND -- The Rangers made a little history at the Coliseum on Wednesday with two home runs each by Robinson Chirinos and Rougned Odor in a 7-5 victory over the Athletics.
The Rangers became the first A's opponent to hit three-plus home runs in three straight games at the Coliseum in one season. This rich bit of trivia was instrumental in the Rangers roaring back from being down 5-0 against a historically tough opposing pitcher, and they have now won 14 of their last 18 games.

The Rangers rally came against Sonny Gray, whose career 1.92 ERA against them was the second lowest of any opponent with at least 10 starts. It also came on a night when Derek Holland allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings. But Nick Martinez pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to get his first win since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and first ever as a reliever in the big leagues. Matt Bush, Jake Diekman and Sam Dyson -- one scoreless inning each -- did the rest.

"This was a great win," Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. "Down five runs, our starter out, got Sonny Gray on the mound, a guy we've not had much success against in the past. It was a huge win for us. It did not look, good but it's another chapter in the book these guys have been writing this year."
This was the second time Chirinos hit two home runs in the game. The other was on Aug. 5, 2014, against the White Sox. This was the first for Odor, who now leads the Rangers with 12 on the season. He began the day tied with Adrian Beltre, Nomar Mazara and Mitch Moreland with 10 homers.

Chirinos also had a home run Tuesday, giving him three in four games since coming off the disabled list with a fractured right forearm.
"I'm just putting good swings on the baseball," Chirinos said. "There is nothing wrong with the arm, thank God it feels good."

This was also the 15th time in club history that two Rangers hit a pair of home runs in one game. The last time it happened was on Aug. 22, 2007, in the 30-3 win over the Orioles with Ramon Vazquez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia going deep twice.
The Rangers had managed just three singles through five innings but Chirinos brought them to life in the sixth. He led off the inning and hit a 1-2 slider over the left-field wall for a home run. Shin-Soo Choo and Ian Desmond followed with back-to-back doubles for one run, then a grounder by Mazara and Prince Fielder's sacrifice fly made it 5-3.
The Rangers weren't done. Jurickson Profar singled to center and then Odor struck with his first home run over the left-field wall to tie the score.
"That's what's special about this team, we never give up," Chirinos said. "After I hit that home run, everybody started having good at-bats and good swings on the ball. That tells you a lot about this team."
Gray was gone in the sixth. John Axford took over for him, but Chirinos came up again and hit another high drive over the left-field wall to put the Rangers ahead. Odor added the finishing blast in the eighth with a drive into the right-field seats.
That was the Statcast™ award-winner with a game-high 108.7 mph exit velocity and a projected distance of 432 feet.
