Rangers minor leaguer Demeritte suspended

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Texas Rangers Minor League second baseman Travis Demeritte has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Furosemide, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Demeritte, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League, is effective immediately.
