Prospect Jackson dominant for Double-A Frisco

Rangers prospect Luke Jackson continued his impressive season for Double-A Frisco on Friday, allowing only three hits over seven shutout innings.

Jackson struck out four batters as the RoughRiders rolled over the Tulsa Drillers, 13-0. Jackson, 22, improved to 5-2 with a 2.78 ERA.

The Rangers' No. 7 prospect has been on a roll since an ugly outing at Northwest Arkansas on April 10, when he got knocked around for seven runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. In eight outings since that start, including one relief appearance, Jackson has picked up five wins and posted a 1.93 ERA.

Picked 45th overall by the Rangers in the 2010 Draft, Jackson truly broke out in 2013, when he went 11-4 with a 2.04 ERA in 25 games with Frisco and Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach.

Aside from the clunker against Northwest Arkansas, Jackson has picked up right where he left off in 2014. He's cut down on his walks, having issued two or fewer in eight of his 10 outings -- and zero or one in six of them.

He only walked one batter Friday, but he had to work out of trouble in the second and third innings, as he also hit a batter and surrendered all three of his hits between those two innings. Jackson had no trouble after that, however, as he retired the final 12 batters he faced.
