Mazara, Rangers need boost in All-Star support

MLB.com @Sullivan_Ranger

ARLINGTON -- Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara is surging at the plate but not in voting on the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot. No Texas players have been able to crack the top five at any infield or catching position -- or the top 15 in the outfield -- in the latest All-Star voting update released Tuesday.

Mazara deserves more consideration. He went into Tuesday's game vs. the Mets hitting .341 in his past 22 games to go along with a .413 on-base percentage and a .524 slugging percentage.

Mazara is hoping for his first All-Star selection. Elvis Andrus has been twice, and he also deserves more consideration. The shortstop entered Tuesday hitting .305 with seven home runs, 32 RBIs and a .475 slugging percentage.
