Rangers give holiday joy with annual Toy Drive

December 1st, 2016

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have begun their participation in the 2016 Cowboy Santas Toy Drive. It is the sixth straight year that the club has been involved in the initiative.
The Cowboy Santas Toy Drive involves the collection of thousands of new, unwrapped toys that are distributed to children from low-income families in Tarrant County. Fans can drop off new, unwrapped toys or books at the Texas Rangers Grand Slam Gift Shop at Globe Life Park and the Rangers Fort Worth Team Shop at 316 Main St. during regular store hours. Items may also be dropped off at all Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments.
The drive began on Thursday and runs through Dec. 13. On Dec. 13, the Rangers will host the Cowboy Santas Toy Drive Finale Event at Globe Life Park in the center-field Vandergriff Plaza area from 4 to 7 p.m. CT.
Rangers personalities will be on hand to sign autographs. Holiday movies will be shown on the video screen, the Rangers KidsZone will be open, and drink and food specials will be provided. Other activities will include face painting, crafts, a photo booth, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Additionally, complimentary holiday tours of Globe Life Park will be offered every half hour during the event.
Donations of new, unwrapped toys and books for boys and girls, newborn to age 12, will be greatly encouraged.
The Cowboy Santas Program Inc. is a non-profit program that provides toys to children from low-income Tarrant County families during the holiday season. The program began in 1981 at several Fort Worth Community Centers, and over the last two decades, has grown to cover all of Tarrant County.
