Anaheim, Calif. - The Texas Rangers announced today the following roster moves prior to tonight's series opener in Anaheim.

Right-handed pitcher Matt Bush has been placed on 10-day disabled list with a right knee MCL sprain. To take Bush's place on the active roster, the club has recalled outfielder Ryan Rua (#16) from Triple-A Round Rock.

Additionally, the team has optioned infielder Phil Gosselin to Round Rock and purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Nick Gardewine (#45 - pronounced GARD-uh-wine) from Double-A Frisco to take Gosselin's place on the 25-man roster.

Bush suffered the knee injury while catching a popup during the 8th inning of yesterday's game against the Chicago White Sox. He collided with third baseman Joey Gallo on the play and was forced to leave the game. Bush has a 3-4 record with 10 saves and a 3.04 ERA (16 ER/47.1 IP) in 49 relief appearances for Texas this season. The first date he would be eligible to return is August 31.

Rua will be in his third stint with the Rangers this season, as he was also with the club from Opening Day-June 15 and July 31-August 11. He did not appear in a game during his most recent stint with the Rangers and has batted .202 (20-99) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs, and 11 RBI over 45 games with Texas this season. Rua hit safely in 5 of 6 games since returning to the Express, batting .333 (6-18) with 2 doubles, a home run, and 4 RBI. He has batted .256 (40-156) with 6 home runs and 21 RBI in 40 games overall at Round Rock while seeing action at both corner outfield spots.

Gosselin was a defensive replacement in yesterday's game against the White Sox, entering when Gallo exited due to injury in the 8th inning. It was his Texas debut and only game since being recalled from Round Rock on Saturday. He has batted .146 with 2 RBI in 29 games overall with Pittsburgh and Texas this season.

Gardewine, who turned 24 on Tuesday, will be in uniform tonight seeking his major league debut. He has spent the entire campaign at Frisco, going 1-2 with a 2.41 ERA (9 ER/33.2 IP) and 4 saves over 30 relief appearances. The right-hander has posted a career-best 13.4 strikeouts per 9 innings this year, his first season at the Double-A level. He has compiled a 1.59 ERA (2 ER/11.1 IP) with 18 strikeouts and 2 walks over his last 9 relief outings with the 'Riders. Gardewine was a 7th round selection out of Kaskaskia (IL) Community College in the 2013 June draft.

After today's roster moves, and with the addition of Gardewine, the Rangers' major league roster is now at the 40-man limit, along with four players on the 60-day disabled list.
