Gallo, Martinez earn Minors honors for September

ARLINGTON -- Joey Gallo and Nick Martinez were named the Rangers' Player and Pitcher of the Month for August and September.

The third baseman fell one homer shy of tying the Rangers farm record of 41, set by Tom Robson in 1974 with Triple-A Spokane.

Martinez, 23, went 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA over his final six games (five starts) with High A Myrtle Beach and Double-A Frisco. He struck out 29 batters against eight walks in that span.
