The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has purchased the contract of left -handed pitcher Michael Roth from Triple-A Round Rock. Roth (#53) will be in uniform for Sunday's game in Minnesota.
 
To make room for Roth on the active roster, the team has optioned right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson to Double-A Frisco. To make room for Roth on the major league roster, right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
 
Roth, 26, has spent the entire season at Round Rock with a 7-3 record and a Pacific Coast League low 2.66 ERA in 17 games/12 starts. He opened the season in the Express bullpen, going 1-0, 1.86 in five games and is 6-3, 2.76 in 12 starts since moving to the rotation.
 
Roth is 2-1, 1.19 (3 ER/22.2 IP) in his last three starts including a two-hit, complete game shutout in his last outing on June 26 vs. Colorado Springs. Roth, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of that game, was selected as the PCL Pitcher of the Week for that effort. He ranks second among PCL qualifiers with a .223 opponents' batting average and a 1.06 WHIP. Roth is tied for the Express lead in wins and ranks second in innings (81.1). He has also been selected to participate in the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 13 at Charlotte.
 
He was 2-1, 7.79 in 22 games/1 start in the majors with the Los Angeles Angels in 2013-14. Roth spent 2015 with Triple-A Columbus in the Cleveland organization. He was promoted to the Indians on July 28 but did not appear in a game before returning to the minors on August 3.
 
Jackson has a 10.80 ERA in eight overall games with Texas this season and has appeared in three games since he second recall from Round Rock on June 22. Lewis was placed on the 15-day DL on June 22 with a right latissimus dorsi strain.
 
The Rangers' major league roster remains at the 40-man limit.
