Rangers Purchase RHP Nate Adcock from Round Rock; Move Mitch Moreland to 60-day DL

Move Mitch Moreland to 60-day DL

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has purchased the contract right-handed pitcher Nate Adcock from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Adcock (#60) will be in uniform for Thursday afternoon's game against the New York Yankees in New York.

Adcock takes the active roster spot of right-handed pitcher Joakim Soria, who was traded to Detroit on Wednesday night. To make room on the 40-man roster, first baseman Mitch Moreland has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Adcock is 1-0 with one save and a 2.76 ERA (16.1 IP, 11 H, 5 R-ER, 5 BB, 14 SO) in 13 relief appearances at Round Rock this season, holding opponents to a .193 batting average. He has allowed a run just three times. Adcock was a non-roster invitee to the Rangers training camp this spring but underwent surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome in March. After rehabbing in the Rangers extended spring program in Arizona, he was activated at Round Rock on June 5.

Moreland was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 10, retroactive to June 8 and underwent season-ending reconstructive surgery on his left ankle on June 23.

With today's moves, the Rangers' major league roster remains at 40 players.
