Rangers recall INF/OF Jurickson Profar from Round Rock

Option LHP Dario Alvarez to Round Rock.

The Texas Rangers announced prior to tonight's game that the club has recalled infielder/outfielder Jurickson Profar from Triple-A Round Rock, and Profar will be available for tonight's road trip opener in Washington. To make room on the active roster for Profar, the team has optioned left-handed pitcher Dario Alvarez to Round Rock.
Profar will be in his second stint with Texas this season, as he was also with the club from Opening Day-April 30. He has batted .135 with no home runs and 3 RBI over 15 games with the Rangers this season before he was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock following the game on April 30. Profar has hit .267 (35-131) with 2 home runs, 15 doubles, and 20 RBI in 34 games with the Express, playing primarily at shortstop while also seeing action at second base, designated hitter, left field, and first base. He hit .414 (12-29) with runners in scoring position in the Pacific Coast League. He went 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 runs in his most recent game at Triple-A on Tuesday at Colorado Springs.
Alvarez has gone 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA (4 ER/11.0 IP) in 14 relief appearances spanning two stints with Texas this season: Opening Day-May 7 and May 8-June 8. He was on the disabled list from May 26-June 5 with a left elbow strain.
The Rangers have 39 players on the club's major league roster, along with five players on the 60-day disabled list.
