Rangers recall LHP Joseph Ortiz; option RHP Ross Wolf

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced this afternoon that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Joseph Ortiz from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room on the active roster for Ortiz, the club has optioned right-handed pitcher Ross Wolf to Round Rock.

Ortiz, 23, will be in his fourth stint with the Rangers, the others from Opening Day-June 4, June 18-21, and July 11-22. Ortiz has gone 2-1 with a 3.96 ERA (16 ER/36.1 IP) over 25 appearances for Texas this season in his first major league action. He has worked 7.1 scoreless innings over his last 3 outings with the Rangers. Ortiz has a 2-1 mark with 2 saves and a 3.08 ERA (9 ER/26.1 IP) in 19 total appearances for Round Rock, his last appearance on Tuesday at Albuquerque (1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R-ER, 21 pitches).

Wolf has a 1-3 record and 4.14 ERA (21 ER/45.2 IP) in 21 games/3 starts for the Rangers this season. He has been with the club for over three months since having his contract purchased from Round Rock for a start on May 22 against Oakland. Wolf combined to go 1-2 with a 2.02 ERA (8 ER/35.2 IP) in 7 games/6 starts with Round Rock and Frisco (AA) to begin the year.

With today's transactions, the Rangers still have 39 players on the club's 40-man roster.
