Rangers Recall RHP Josh Lindblom

Designate RHP Kyle Mcclellan for Assignment

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom (#25) from Triple-A Round Rock and designated right-handed pitcher Kyle McClellan for assignment.

Lindblom, 26, will be in uniform tonight for the Rangers. He is in his third stint with Texas (others May 20 and June 9-20), and has gone 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA (13 ER/21.2 IP) over 4 games/starts in the majors this season. His last outing for Texas was a start on June 20 vs. Oakland, when he took a no decision (5.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R-ER). Prior to this season, each of his first 101 career appearances were in relief. Lindblom has gone 7-0 with a 1.99 ERA (14 ER/63.1 IP) in 11 games/10 starts for Round Rock (AAA) in 2013, including 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA (4 ER/20.0 IP) in 3 starts there since he was first optioned on May 21. He last pitched on Thursday vs. New Orleans (W, 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R-ER, 2 BB, 2 SO, 90 pitches/57 strikes).

McClellan had gone 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA (8 ER/9.1 IP) in 7 relief appearances since his contract was purchased from Round Rock (AAA) on June 9. He permitted runs in each of his final 4 outings with Texas. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release, or outright McClellan to the minor leagues.

With these moves, the Rangers now have 39 players on the club's 40-man roster.
