The Texas Rangers today announced the following three transactions:

·         Right-handed pitcher Brady Dragmire received from Pittsburgh Pirates on waiver claim

·         Right-handed pitcher Tyrell Jenkins sent to Cincinnati Reds on waiver claim

·         Left-handed pitcher David Rollins sent to Chicago Cubs on waiver claim

Dragmire, 23, had been designed for assignment by Pittsburgh on December 21. He was sent from the Rangers to the Pirates in a December 14 waiver claim after Texas had originally acquired him from Pittsburgh in a December 2 waiver claim. He went 4-6 with a 4.38 ERA (35 ER/72.0 IP) over 45 relief appearances with Toronto's New Hampshire affiliate in the Eastern League in 2016, his first career action at the Double-A level.

Jenkins, 24, had been designated for assignment by the Rangers on December 21 when the club received Rollins from the Philadelphia Phillies on a wavier claim. He was originally acquired by Texas along with left-handed pitcher Brady Feigl in exchange for right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson on December 8. Jenkins made his major league debut for Atlanta in 2016 and went 2-4 with a 5.88 ERA (34 ER/52.0 IP) in 14 games/8 starts. He spent the balance of the campaign with Triple-A Gwinnett, going 9-3 with a 2.47 ERA (23 ER/83.2 IP) over 17 games/12 starts.

This marks the fifth time in just over five weeks for Rollins to switch teams via a waiver claim. The Rangers had received Rollins in a December 21 waiver claim from Philadelphia on his 27th birthday. He saw action with Seattle for a second straight year in 2016, allowing 8 runs over 11 relief appearances and 9.1 innings. Rollins spent the rest of the campaign with Triple-A Tacoma, going 5-0 with 2 saves, a 3.77 ERA (19 ER/45.1 IP), and 0.993 WHIP figure over 37 relief appearances.

After today's transactions, the Rangers' major league roster remains at the 40-player limit.
