Rangers reinstate 2B Ian Kinsler from 15-day disabled list; option INF Leury Garcia to Triple-A Round Rock

The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has reinstated second baseman Ian Kinsler from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Leury Garcia to Triple-A Round Rock.

Kinsler is in the starting lineup for today's game against Toronto. He played 2 games on an injury rehabilitation assignment on Thursday and Friday for Frisco (AA) vs. Corpus Christi, going 0-for-8 with a walk. He started Thursday as the designated hitter and last night at second base (0-for-4, BB, SO). Kinsler was placed on the disabled list on May 19, retroactive to May 18, with a right intercostal strain. His last appearance in a game for Texas came as a pinch-runner on May 17 vs. Detroit.

Kinsler has batted .302 with 7 home runs, 11 doubles, 20 RBI, and 24 runs scored in 40 games for Texas this season. At the time of his placement on the disabled list, Kinsler ranked tied for 7th in the American League with 16 multi-hit games. The Rangers are 26-13 in his 39 starts this season, all starts at second base.

Garcia was on the Rangers Opening Day roster and has batted .176 with a triple and one RBI in 24 games/13 starts for Texas in his first major league action this season.

With today's moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
