Rangers select Cordell in the 11th round

The Rangers selected outfielder Ryan Cordell in the 11th round with the 340th overall pick of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft on Saturday.
Coming out of high school in 2010, Cordell was prepared to go to junior college for a year, with the intention to transfer to Liberty until a scholarship opened up late in the spring. He has improved dramatically since then, emerging as a true prospect.
Cordell's 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame -- combined with his plus speed -- presents scouts with an attractive package of raw tools with plenty of upside.
His swing can get long and he is more of a line-drive hitter now, but he has the potential to develop average pop. Cordell covers ground well in the outfield and he has an average arm.
