The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed left-handed pitcher Wesley Wright to a minor league contract.  Additionally, right-handed pitcher Brady Dragmire has cleared waivers and been assigned outright to Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League. Wright and Dragmire will be non-roster invitees to major league spring training. 
Wright, who will turn 32 years old on Saturday, pitched for Boston's Triple-A Pawtucket affiliate in 2016, posting an 0-2 record with 3 saves and a 4.31 ERA (15 ER/31.1 IP) over 19 appearances. He was in camp with the Arizona Diamondbacks as a non-roster invitee last season before being released on March 28 and signing a minor league deal with Boston on April 11. He was released by Boston on July 10. 
Wright had seen major league action for eight consecutive seasons from 2008-15 with Houston (2008-13), Tampa Bay (2013), Chicago-NL (2014), Baltimore (2015), and Los Angeles-AL (2015), as his last big league outing came with the Angels in the 2015 season finale at Texas. Over 371 career appearances in the majors, Wright has held left-handed hitters to a .237 batting average. 
Dragmire, 23, was designated for assignment by Texas on January 19 to make room on the roster for free agent signee Tyson Ross. Dragmire was most recently received by Texas from Pittsburgh in a December 23 waiver claim. He was initially received from Pittsburgh in a separate waiver claim on December 2, and then was sent back to the Pirates in a December 14 waiver claim. Dragmire went 4-6 with a 4.38 ERA (35 ER/72.0 IP) over 45 relief appearances with Toronto's New Hampshire affiliate in the Eastern League in 2016, his first career action at the Double-A level.
With the additions of Wright and Dragmire, the Rangers now have 17 non-roster invitees to major league spring training camp in 2017.
