Williams will be purchased from Round Rock effective Friday

New York, NY - The Texas Rangers announced following today's game that right-handed pitcher Jerome Williams will be purchased from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League on Friday.

Williams (#44) will make his Rangers debut in a start versus the Oakland A's on Friday at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The Rangers will make corresponding moves on the 25-man and 40-man rosters on Friday to make room for Williams.

Williams, 33, is 0-1, 6.10 (10.1 IP, 16 H, 8 R) in two starts since joining Round Rock. He lost to Iowa in his last outing on July 18. The right-hander is 43-51, 4.45 in 181 games/117 starts with the Giants (2003-05), Cubs (2005-06), Nationals (2007), Angels (2011-13), and Astros (2014) in his major league career.
