Rays promote 5 on baseball operations staff

ST. PETERSBURG -- Rays president of baseball operations Matt Silverman on Friday announced several promotions within the baseball operations staff.

Peter Bendix has been named director, baseball development; Shawn Hoffman will become director, scouting analytics; Kevin Ibach was named director, pro scouting; Josh Kalk is director, pitching research and development; and Brian Plexico was promoted to director, baseball systems.

"Our baseball operations staff is filled with talented people, and these promotions are further evidence of that," Silverman said. "Each person in this group is integral to our operations, and their expanded responsibilities will provide them new avenues for growth, development and impact."

Previously, Bendix served the Rays as the coordinator, baseball research and development; Hoffman was analyst, baseball research and development; Ibach worked as a pro scout; Kalk served as analyst, baseball research and development; and Plexico was architect, baseball systems.
