Rays unveil schedule for Spring Training

Grapefruit League slate begins March 2 against Nationals

The Rays released their 2016 Spring Training schedule on Friday, as well as information regarding ticket sales.

The club will open its 29-game Grapefruit League schedule on March 2, when it welcomes the Nationals for the first of 15 games at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Fla. Tampa Bay's Grapefruit League slate will conclude on April 1 with a trip to Lakeland, Fla., to take on the Tigers.

Highlights of the spring schedule include the Yankees making their lone trip to Charlotte Sports Park on March 12, followed a day later by the fellow division-rival Red Sox coming to town. Tampa Bay's only other spring game against the Yankees will come on March 24, when the Rays hit the road for Tampa.

The Rays will face the reigning American League East champion Blue Jays three times during Grapefruit League play before opening the regular season April 3 with a four-game set against Toronto. As for the most frequent opponent on the schedule, the Rays will square off five times with the Twins -- whom they won't face until June during the regular season.

Fans can place a deposit on Spring Training season tickets by visiting raysbaseball.com/spring or calling 888-FAN-RAYS (888-326-7297). Single game tickets will be available as part of a special, early-access presale beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Monday. Deals on three-game packs will also be available Monday, while regular-priced single game tickets will go on sale Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
