Rays claim catcher Wilson; Casali optioned

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays claimed catcher off waivers from the Rangers and optioned catcher to Triple-A Durham following a 3-2 win over the Royals on Thursday afternoon at Tropicana Field.
The 33-year-old Wilson has spent parts of this season with the Tigers and Rangers. He's hitting a combined .241 with three home runs and 24 RBIs. Wilson was designated for assignment by the Rangers when they traded for at Monday's non-waiver Trade Deadline.
Over his eight-year career, Wilson is hitting .212 with 12 home runs. This season, he's thrown out just 6 of 32 attempted basestealers. Wilson has played some first base during his career.
Casali, who went 0-for-2 on Thursday, was hitting just .168 with the Rays this season to go with seven home runs and 20 RBIs.
