Rays-D-backs game delayed by power outage

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays-Diamondbacks game on Tuesday was delayed when some of the lights went out after a lighting strike outside Tropicana Field.

After a loud crack of thunder with the Rays batting in the second inning, the lights dimmed noticeably. Both teams left the field as they waited for the lights to regain full power.

After a 20-minute delay, the game resumed with the Rays leading 2-0.

The Rays announced that the problem was caused by a lightning strike at a nearby substation.
