ST. PETERSBURG -- Batting practice for the Rays ended at 5:15 p.m. ET, just about two hours before first pitch. And when the game started, Tampa Bay picked right up where it left off in a 15-1 win over San Diego on Tuesday.
The 35 runs over the past three games break a franchise record for the most during a three-game stretch in team history. Luke Maile had a career-high three hits and four RBIs. Brad Miller had two home runs in two innings, including a 446-foot blast as tracked by Statcast™. Corey Dickerson, Nick Franklin and Evan Longoria also chipped in homers in the blowout.
"What an offensive show we put on tonight," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "That was fun to sit there and be a part of. Everybody played a part. A lot of home runs. A lot of good at-bats. Hard contact. I'm sure you'll ask some players about each individual player so I won't start to name basically the whole lineup."

Padres starter Edwin Jackson lasted just four innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits. Carlos Villanueva allowed seven runs in four innings of relief. The Rays won their third straight game while the Padres lost their fourth straight.
Blake Snell went five innings for the Rays and allowed just one run for the win, despite laboring through 95 pitches.
"That was awesome," Miller said of the evening. "We hit a ton of balls hard. I like how we kept it going. Nobody gave away at-bats."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Escape artist: Snell was never cruising in his winning effort on Tuesday. But he hit his biggest bump in the road in the fourth inning when he walked in a run with one out, then had a 3-2 count on Wil Myers. He got Myers to strike out and retired Yangervis Solarte on a strikeout right after to get out of the jam and keep it a 7-1 game.
"There's a lot I need to work on for sure," Snell said of his overall performance. "I'm going to get better. I'm going to learn. It's slower than I want, but I need to keep pushing forward."

Good Eye: The Padres showed some signs of life in the fourth despite an early 7-0 hole when Travis Jankowski singled to load the bases with one out. Alexei Ramirez stayed patient at the plate and drew a walk against Snell, allowing San Diego to plate its only run of the night.

Maile Man: Maile got his average above .200 on the season, and was the player who got the offense going. His three-run double in the second inning made it 3-0. He added an RBI single in the third inning to make it 6-0.

Solarte flashes the leather: The Rays may have had a historic night already, but Solarte prevented another noteworthy event by robbing Longoria of a chance at the cycle. In the bottom of the fourth, Longoria hit a sharp ground ball down the third-base line when Solarte ranged to his right, dove, set his feet and delivered a frozen rope to Myers at first to prevent the extra-base hit.

Villanueva allowed four home runs to the Rays in relief. That's the most home runs allowed in Padres history from a pitcher out of the bullpen.

SPECTACULAR SLIDING CATCH
On a Christian Bethancourt fly ball to foul territory towards the left-field corner, Dickerson slid into the base of the wall in four territory and was able to make the catch and hold on for the first out in the fifth inning.

INJURY FRONT
The Rays dealt with players getting hurt before and during the game. Logan Forsythe was scratched before the game because of back spasms while Matt Duffy was pulled before the fourth inning as a precaution with mild left Achilles soreness.
WHAT'S NEXT
Padres: San Diego looks to avoid a sweep against Tampa Bay on Wednesday at 10:10 a.m. PT when it sends Christian Friedrich (4-8, 4.84) to the mound. It's the last game of a tough nine-game road trip that has seen the Padres go 2-6 so far.
Rays:Chris Archer (6-16, 4.39 ERA) will look to close out the Rays' sweep of the Padres on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. ET. He's never faced the Padres, but is 2-2 with a 3.24 ERA in Interleague games this season. His 16 losses still lead the Major Leagues after he lost his last start on Friday in New York.
