Odorizzi prevails in arbitration case

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- For a second consecutive year, Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi went to arbitration with the Rays and was rewarded.
Odorizzi, whose hearing took place Monday, was awarded what he sought: a $6.35-million contract to play the 2018 season. The Rays were offering $6.05 million.
Odorizzi, who went 10-8 with a 4.14 ERA in 28 starts last season, made $4.1 million in 2017.
